Our Story
Our involvement in Engineering dates back to 1988 when our Partners in Mathew Hall were bought by AMEC. AMEC went on to acquire Zektin Group in 2011. Maplin was one of their divisions before Maplin arranged a Management Buy-Out in 2014.

Our history began in 1848, with the foundation of Mathew Hall, which became a major force in the UK construction business. By the time the Matthew Hall Group was acquired by AMEC in 1988, it comprised of more than forty companies that had a presence in the USA, Australia, the Middle East, Asia, and Europe.

1996
AMEC launched the AMEC SPIE brand for engineering services in Europe.
2006
The European engineering
business, AMEC SPIE, was sold
to PAl Partners in 2006.
2007
AMEC sold its UK construction
business.
2011
In 2011, AMEC acquired the
Zektin Group. Zektin were an
Australian-based specialist
engineering and consulting
services company for the oil
and gas and resources
industries. Focusing on project
management, architectural
design, front-end engineering,
and project delivery services.
2014
In 2014, Maplin Engineering was
established as a standalone
entity to focus on the oil, gas,
and resources consulting
business in Europe and beyond,
instead of being the
engineering arm of the Zektin
Group, giving more autonomy
over the company’s direction.
2019
Maplin Engineering expands its
engineering and consulting
business services to the Middle
East and Asia. The company is
involved in many new tenders
and bid proposals.
2020
Maplin Engineering opens its
first Middle Eastern Office in Abul
Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.
This is a part of our expansion
plan to better serve our Middle
Eastern & Asian Customers.
However, London remains the
centre of excellence for our
